Cochineal Extract

Cochineal dye is a traditional natural dye for coloring textiles in Central and South America and has been used for beautiful, lightfast and permanent scarlets, pinks and reds for centuries.
Today, it is used as a fabric and cosmetics dye and as a natural food coloring. Cochineal is one of the few water-soluble colorants that resist degradation with time. It is one of the most light- and heat-stable and oxidation-resistant of all the natural organic colorants and is even more stable than many synthetic food colors.

Carmine is used in the manufacture of artificial flowers, paints, crimson ink, rouge, and other cosmetics, and is routinely added to food products such as yogurt and certain brands of juice, the most notable ones being those of the ruby-red variety.
